Atzompa, know for it´s green glazed clay pottery has one of the most beautiful graveyards in Oaxaca. Community members adorn their loved one´s graves with large candles and marigolds. We´ll have the oppotunity to learn about the Day of the Dead traditions from a local family and dance the night away with a comparsa or parade celebrating the arrival of the souls. As most families will be dressed in costumes for the ocassion we´ll have the opportunity to have our face´s painted before we head out for the night.

Comfortable and safe transportation round trip from Oaxaca City (45 min each way). Pick up and drop off at El Olivo Gastrobar
Two beverages and 2 tapas per person (beverages options: alcoholic-house made pint of La Santísima beer, mezcal margarita, mojito. Non-alcoholic: house made ginger beer, virgin mojito, or sparkling water)
Face paint of your choice by a make up artist (we will be leaving El Olivo promptly at 6:30pm so be sure to arrive early to get the paint of your choice)
Visit to the Atzompa graveyard, famous for its candles and grave decorations
Learn about the local Day of the Dead traditions from a local family; 1 hour free time at the graveyard
Participate in a comparsa or all night parade for Day of the Dead where we will join a neighborhood group with a live band. At this family friendly event, people will be wearing costumes, dancing, eating, drinking, and celebrating the arrival of the souls (approximately 2.5 hours)

Late night dinner of a tlayuda
